Disney on Ice

This was Maggie's first actual outing and she did such a great job. I had wanted to take the girls to Disney on Ice for a long time and finally they were coming to area. I talked Mom into coming with us, although it didn't take much convincing.
So we packed up the girls and headed out to the new Showare Center in Kent. I had never been there and was really nervous about where to park and where to go. Of course we got a late start and by the time we parked and got inside the show had already started. Luckily it was only the story of Cars so we didn't miss much.
From the moment we sat down Maggie's eyes were huge and she couldn't take her eyes off the action. Emma thought it was loud and bright and covered her eyes with a Webkin and her ears with her hands for the first 10 minutes. But she eventually got used to it and enjoyed the show with the rest of us.
Both girls did well throughout the show. At intermission Mom bought them both a a snow cone in a Tinkerbell cup. At $14 a piece they will treasure those cups for a long time. Maggie thought it was pretty funny when she realized that Tinkerbell was also out on the ice she squealled with delight and pointed to her smiling from ear to ear.
The show included the stories of Cars, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Tinkerbell. I liked the Tinkderbell story the most it was a cute story, and new to me I hadn't seen the movie yet. Emma liked the Lion King and Maggie LOVED it when Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald all came out and waved to the crowd. I said "Look Maggie Mickey Mouse is waving at YOU!" She smiled so big and with her head tilted and her arm stiff to her side-she waved back. I asked her if she wanted her picture taken with him and she said yes!! YIPEE!!! So after the show ended we went to the lobby hoping to find Mickey Mouse. Both girls were so patient and both actually wanted to get a picture taken. But after several minutes we decided to go with the statue of Mickey and Minnie instead. Both girls stood in line again and smiled so big. I told Emma if all I had to do was to get her a little sister to go to these things with and get her picture taken I would have done it along time ago!! She just smiled.
Another great memory for the girls....

Maggie gets a haircut

It was driing me crazy, every time I brushed Maggies hair she would brush her bangs back up out of her eyes and then they dried all crazy. So when I got to Mom and Dads I asked if Mom could just trim her bangs. I remember having the same conversation with her about Emma and we had to bribe her with a doll to get her to sit still and not cry. Maggie told Grandma (or Gee Gee) "haircut Gee Gee" and sat up tall and just SAT THERE! It was amazing. Since she was being so good Mom continued to trim the rest of it. I think it looks pretty good!! Thanks Mom!

Halloween party 2009

Its in the books, our annual Halloween party is a wrap. We had a lot of new people at the party with the Bunco girls and a few of Emma's friends from school. It was a bit difficult having the different age groups to try to entertain. I am sure it will only get more difficult as the years go by. But I think we pulled it off. We had some really good chili- although I ran out of time and couldn't make my famous corn bread. And we had a few salad and A LOT of desserts and they were all delicious, I think i tried them all. My thighs are going to pay the price.

Maggie was adorable in her Cougar Cheerleader outfit and John was a Ref. His dad got him a uniform from a friend and John went out and bought wht pants and wht socks-cause it IS Football season so that is the type of Ref he wanted to be. Emma and I went Goth and dressed in black and dyed out hair, well I ran out of time for that too but my purple spray paint is still in the cupboard. I borrowed some clothes from my friend, Julie at work, and Emma wore her new favorite outfit complete w/ chains and skulls. Thats my girl!

We had a lot of good costumes come thru. Kristin Tague and family were the Adams family, Roseann and Gavin were a banana and monkey, Mom was a jailbird,Bec was a hippie with a dress she actually found in my mother in laws closet, and Rowan was a pumpkin, to name a few.It was so fun to have all our friends together. This is something that I look forward to all year and its hard to believe I have to start planning and topping this years party already.

Mags new favorite word

Maggie has decided that everything must end with the word "boob". I am sure this is something that Emma has taught her and Maggie likes to call Emma this, and amazingly she can use it at the correct times! But this makes Emma crazy! and really isn't a very nice word for a 2 year old to be using. So we have started to try and convince Mags that it's not nice with a time out. She really doesn't care about time outs. She just sits on the couch and looks around. She did ask for her Pup Pup today and I told her "No, you don't get any comfort items on a time out." Oh ok she says and just continues to look around. Ten minutes later she asked me for something as I was walking into the garage and I said no, as the door was shutting I heard her say "BOOB" Oh man seriously. So I marched back in and she heard me coming and started to squirm. I didn't say anything and grabbed her by the arm and took into the front room sat her on the couch and said firmly "We DO NOT use that word!" She looked upset but sat there again for her 2 minute time out. I don't think those work for her? A little while later I told Emma she needed to teach her something else to call her so I heard Emma say "Maggie u can call me Captain, OK?" oh man....

Emma's growing up.

Yesterday in the car Emma, out of the blue , asked "Mom, tell me the truth, do you put out ALL of the Christimas presents at Christmas time?" I was not prepared for this and frankly I didn't want to answer her. I said "I put out some of them, HEY look at all the rain isn't it pretty?" She didn't fall for it. This went on for several more minutes-back and forth. Finally I said "What exactly are you asking me?' Her response..."Do you really think there is a big fat man in a red suit, that flies around, ALL over the world in one night, delivering presents in his sled pulled by flying magic reindeer???" CRAP, the girl has a good point! Well "he has lots of helpers" I replied. MOOOOMMMMMM! is the only response I got. I didn't have the heart to be the one to tell her , so I told her to ask her father when he got home.
Later that night John called me at work and said "Emma is pretty excited she figured out that there isn't a Santa Claus." Sigh...

Pumpkin Patch

Sunday (10-11-09) we went to the first Pumpking Patch of the year. We ususally go twice. Once for pumpkins for the Halloween party and once for the pumpkins for Halloween. This was Maggie's first trip and I think she did very well. She liked the smaller pumpkins, ones she could hold herself. The only problem was that she kept finding a better one everytime she looked around. They had some funny cutouts to take your picture in and Grandpa Joe help her up to peek thru the holes. For the ghost I asked for a scarey face, Grandpa gave me a big smile and Maggie had a delayed reaction due to the sucker in her mouth. Emma had fun playing on all the pumpkins and looking at the different shaped squash. The patch had a tractor ride, corn maze and our friend Kerra was there taking professional pictures. I hope ours turns out good, I am sure they will Kerra takes really good pictures of us.

Its a bit early to carve our pumpkins so they are still on the front porch. I am afraid of what Maggie will do when we start in on hers....she is going to freak out!

Welcome to our life!

Well everyone, we are going to try this again! I wanted to be able to show Maggie pages and pages of journalling like I can for Emma at this age. I hope to keep this up, if I don't please send me harrassing emails until I do. Some of you are on Facebook with me so you can also keep up with me on there. This is for my mom and for Maggie to read in the future. I hope you all enjoy the stories of my crazy family!
